Born in Rio de Janeiro in February, 1974. In 1992 he entered the Architecture degree program at the Facultade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, transferring to the Sculpture program of the Escola de Belas Artes at the same university in 1996, completing his studies in 2001. In 1999 he developed his first public intervention pieces together with the ATROCIDADES MARAVILHOSAS artists' group, initiating a series of urban interventions with projects that employ everyday city life and the questions it involves as their support. "We don't ask whether or not what we are seeing is art. We ask about what we are seeing" states Ruben Pileggi in reference to Guga's work.
