The
German duo Rindfleisch/Rapedius work with a very old genre of art history:
The landscape. With installations, objects and drawings the artists create
not only rural landscapes, but also urban scenarios that subvert the genre's
usual expectations. Their pieces surprise with humorous imitations of
natural compositions or structures, and radiate at the same time uncomplicated
poetry. In their drawings, objects and installations they employ an "as-found"
working method.
Generally, Rindfleisch/Rapedius use easy available materials to
create their environments, several of their pieces are made by serial
adding of simple forms.
Their work has been shown in New York, Santiago de Chile, Paris, Ghent,
Zurich, Hamburg and Berlin, the city in which they live and work. Their
next solo exhibition is in November at the Klaus von Nichtssagend Gallery
in Brooklyn/New York.
